Number of LASIK Procedures Performed: There is no substitute for experience. Led by Dr. Abraham Shammas, our Los Angeles LASIK team has performed over 200,000 refractive and laser eye surgeries. With this kind of experience, our surgeons can be trusted to consistently deliver excellent laser vision correction outcomes. The majority of our patients do not need additional surgical treatment in the future to enhance their LASIK results.

Types of LASIK Surgery Offered: At Laser Eye Center, we believe it is in the best interests of our patients to offer them a choice in their laser vision correction surgery. Every patient has a unique set of needs and visual goals, and by offering a variety of laser vision correction procedures, we can serve a broader range of people. We evaluate every patient individually and recommend the procedure we feel best benefits them.

In addition to traditional LASIK, we perform:

  • Custom LASIK – helps reduce or eliminate both lower order and higher order aberrations. Innovative wavefront technology is used to capture information and create a customized map of the eye’s unique imperfections. This map is then used to calibrate the laser.
  • Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) – similar in nature to LASIK, but does not require the creation of a corneal flap. It is a great option for individuals that do not qualify for conventional LASIK.
  • All-Laser LASIK – enhances the safety and precision of traditional LASIK by eliminating the need for handheld instruments. Instead, a laser is used for both critical procedural steps: creating the corneal flap and reshaping the corneal tissue.

Patients with nearsightedness that do not qualify for laser vision correction surgery also have the option to have Verisyse lenses implanted to restore clear vision.

Lasik

LASIK, short for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, has given clear, crisp vision to millions of individuals who struggled with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. During LASIK surgery, the corneal tissue is reshaped with a laser to correct visual distortions. LASIK is extremely safe and does not require a long recovery. Many patients notice an almost-immediate improvement in vision after surgery.

CustomLasik

Custom LASIK combines two exciting technologies to reshape the cornea to reduce or eliminate visual distortions. Custom LASIK technology has the potential to improve how much and how well you can see as well as reduce the risks of post-LASIK complications. myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, and higher-order aberrations, imperfections that can cause poor night vision, glare, shadows and halos.

All Laser Lasik withIntralase

All Laser LASIK by IntraLase® is a leading-edge tool that relies solely on laser energy instead of the microkeratome, the metal-blade cutting instrument traditionally used in LASIK procedures. In All Laser LASIK, the surgeon uses the laser to create a hinged flap in the cornea then removes excess tissue underneath with an excimer laser. Once the flap is back in place, the reshaped cornea enables better vision. The Laser Eye Center of Los Angeles and Orange County chose All Laser LASIK by IntraLase® because its computer-controlled laser allows unprecedented control and accuracy in customizing thinner and cleaner corneal flaps and brings a new level of safety and assurance to vision-correction surgery.

Cataract Removal

Cataracts are a common age-related vision problem. The only treatment for this clouding of the eye’s natural lens is to surgically remove the lens and replace it with an artificial lens. Cataract surgery is a very safe procedure. Through a small incision, the clouded lens is gently fragmented, and the pieces are removed. Then, a transparent synthetic lens, like the Crystalens, is placed to restore clear focusing power at multiple distances.
